Astro-Med is now AstroNova

On May 18th, 2016, Astro-Med, Inc. officially began doing business as AstroNova on worldwide basis.

The Astro-Med name was originally based on the two markets where the company applied its data visualization technology, aerospace and medical. Since seceding from the medical business in 2013, the “Med” part of the name no longer accurately described the company’s business.

AstroNova was selected to fit the company’s transformation strategy. “Astro” refers to the company’s strong roots in the aerospace business. “Nova” comes from the Latin word “novus,” meaning “new.”

AstroNova exemplifies the company’s traditional strengths in aerospace, plus its expanding presence in test and measurement, product identification and additional areas where data visualization technology can be applied.

What’s more, AstroNova also signifies the company’s operating philosophy.

The AstroNova Operating System is a comprehensive business management process to drive operational excellence throughout a growing global organization. It represents how the business is managed to achieve continuous improvement in quality, delivery, cost and growth. The system focuses AstroNova team members’ talents on achieving specific business objectives.


Customers will continue to use the present purchasing process and work with their existing sales representatives. The QuickLabel® brand will continue to be used for products offered by the company’s QuickLabel® division, now part of the AstroNova Product Identification business. Corporate, businesses and product line logos and colors will be unified under a new AstroNova branding system. The AstroNova name is registered on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The company’s shares will continue to trade under its prior symbol, ALOT.

In the wake of this pandemic, we took swift action to mobilize a significant number of our global team to remote working arrangements while enhancing our cleaning procedures and securing our production facilities to prevent the spread of the virus COVID-19.

As we continue to work through this pandemic, our core values have shone through, and we remain operational and dedicated to meeting the expectations and needs of our customers. Very early on, we increased our inventories, and we are in regular contact with our suppliers to monitor their status. We have maintained a high level of production, and our supply chains are meeting our requirements. However, we do prioritize firm orders above forecasts. Because this is a very fluid situation, we encourage you to make sure you have orders in place with us to carry you through these unusual times.
